13 DAYS UGANDA WILDLIFE SAFARI

The 13 Days Uganda safari is a combination of wildlife and primate tracking, boat rides and community visits and nature walks. Trip features visits to 5 national parks including Murchison Falls apr, Kibale forest, Lake Mburo park, Queen Elizabeth national park plus Bwindi foerest; Home of the mountain gorillas.

DAY 1
Arrival- This is you arrival day to Uganda. You will be picked up from the airport by our driver who will drop you to your hotel in Kampala where you will spend the night and also have your dinner

DAY 2- From Kampala to Murchison park
This day being the first, not much will be done as it starts with being picked up either from the airport or hotel you are staying in. The journey to the park that takes about 4 hours is an amazing experience as the clients can enjoy the beautiful environment along the journey and can also decide to have a stop at the Zziwa rhino sanctuary. This place hosts the endangered white and black rhinos. After this pleasant view, you will embark on the journey to Masindi town where you will have a mouth watering lunch and rest a bit for some minutes before proceeding to Murchison Park. This park has various accommodation sites to suite all clients. It has luxury lodges like Paraa safari lodge, Nile safari camp, Chobe safari lodge and moderate lodges like Sambiya river lodge, Murchison falls river lodge plus budget lodges like Red Chilli camp. All these offer comfort t the clients. There will be checking in at the preferred lodge and a night spent.

DAY 3- Game drive and boat cruise
This park is the largest with a huge concentration of mammals. On the 3rd day, you will wake up early and have breakfast and get ready for your 1st activity. A guided game drive will be conducted to the northern bank of river Nile that has a bigger concentration of wildlife. Here, one stands a chance to see numerous mammals that are unique to the African savannas like the giraffe, buffalo, lion, hyena, elephant, Uganda kob and leopard and many more. In this section, you may also enjoy impressive bird species like the African fish eagle being one of the prized sightings and with luck, the rare shoebill stork. Awesome scenery is also enjoyed with a variety of vegetation ranging from riparian forests and swamp lands to broad savannah. Later, you will be driven back to the lodge for a lunch break.
After lunch, you will be taken to your next adventure. Here is a boat cruise upstream the Nile River to the falls. On this trip, you might also spot numerous birds like the yellow billed stork, African fish eagle, Egyptian goose, egrets plus many more drinking water at the river bank. Water animals like schools of hippos, elephants, huge crocodiles and buffalos can also be seen on a good day as the cruise goes close to the falls base. After this activity, day two is well spent as you will be driven back to the lodge to have dinner and spend the night.

DAY 4- Transfer to Kibale forest national park
Today after breakfast, you will be driven to Kibale national park from Murchison falls national park. This journey covers a distance of 295km, about 4 hours via the Kyenjojo - Hoima road. On arrival, you will check in to your lodge where you will be spending the night for dinner.

DAY 5- Chimp tracking and Bigodi wetlands
You will be driven to the headquarters for briefing just after you have had breakfast for a little briefing about the gorilla trekking. During this activity, you may see birds like western green tinker bird, olive long tailed cuckoo, the African grey parrot, red chested fluff tail, red winged francolin, green breasted Pitta, white napped pigeon, African Piita, grey winged robin, joyful green bull, grey throated fly catcher, Abyssinian ground thrush, white bellied crested fly catcher, black capped Apalises and many more. You will also spot primates like the blue monkey, red tailed monkey, white checked Mangabey, olive baboon, chimpanzees and black, white and red colobus. Other mammals like blue duiker, genet, bush pig, bush buck and the African civet can also e seen. Spotted in this park though rare are the water bucks, buffalos, warthogs, hippos and the giant forest hog are also present plus forest elephants.
You will be driven to the lodge for lunch and later to the Bigodi wetlands for birding. It hosts about 138 bird species among which are the great blue Turaco. After here, you will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and sleep over.

DAY 6- Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
Today after breakfast, you will check out and be driven to queen Elizabeth Park. This journey covers a distance of about 114km, approximately 1 hour and a half using the Mbarara- Kasese road. On arrival, you will check in into the lodge were you will be spending the night and having dinner. In the evening, you will visit the Katwe salt mines and also the local communities around.

DAY 7- Game drive and boat cruise on the Kazinga channel
Today, you will have breakfast before leaving the lodge for the Kasenyi plain to begin the amazing wildlife safari. Kasenyi plains are located in the north eastern part of the park and it’s actually an open savanna, swarmed with various wild animals with the Uganda safari kob being the dominant animals. Other mammals like elephants, buffalos, water bucks, warthogs, Sitatunga antelopes, lions, leopards and servile cats are also common here though rarely seen during day time. After this game drive, you will be driven back to the lodge for a launch cruise trip were you might spot various mammals aquatic mammals and birds like the enormous hippos, reptiles like crocodiles. Later in the evening when this trip is done, you will head back to the lodge for refreshments, dinner and sleep over.

DAY 8- Transfer to Bwindi national park
Today after your breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and get ready for your transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. This journey covers a distance of 250km about four hours via Ntungamo- Katuinguru road and Kabala-Mbarara road. You will have lunch en route. On arrival, you will check in to the lodge where you will be spending the night and also having dinner

DAY 9- Gorilla trekking and tracking
You will wake up to ready breakfast at the lodge then get ready to hit the forest for the amazing gorilla trekking activity. This activity can take 2 to 7 hours depending on your luck that day with the gorillas. After they are tracked down, you will be allowed a maximum of 1 hour to interface with these awesome primates. From the lodge, you will be taken to the Bwindi impenetrable forest national park offices handling gorilla tracking for orientation and meeting with the guides. You will be divided into small groups not exceeding 8 trackers to enter into the jungle for a day.
While inside the jungle, you will not only see the primates but also encounter numerous bird species and butterflies, amazing flora and fauna. This makes this trekking one of a kind activity for it involves hiking and climbing with the mountain gorillas just a few meters from the group of trekkers. After a day’s successful tracking and trekking, you will return to the headquarters where you will witness traditional ways like brewing of beer and remedies made from the forest with some dancing and entertainment from the locals. After this amazing adventure and discovery in the Bwindi forests, you will be awarded with a certificate congratulating you about the successfully tracking down the mountain gorillas. You will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and spend the night.

DAY 10- Transfer to Lake Mburo Park
Today you will be transferred to Lake Mburo National Park, 272km from Bwindi forest national park via the Kabala – Mbarara road. This journey takes about 4 hours and a half whereby you may have a stop at Igongo cultural center to visit the museum and also have lunch. On arrival at the park, you will check to the hotel where you will be having dinner and also spending the night

DAY 11- Game drive and boat cruise
On this day, you will wake up to ready breakfast at the lodge after which the 1st activity will start. You will be driven to the park for an early game drive. While in the park, you are likely to see various mammals like impalas, zebras, oribis, buffaloes, topis and many more plus the numerous birds in the air, on ground and trees like the bare faced go away birds. After the drive in the park, you will be dropped back to the lodge to have lunch and prepare for the next activity.
After the delicious meal, you will be taken for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo where you might see water birds like white winged warbler, brown faced lap wing plus animals grazing at the river bank like the elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles and many more. When this is done, you will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and spending the night.

DAY 12- Lake Mburo park to Kampala
Today after breakfast, you will prepare for your return journey to Kampala. This journey will take about 4 hours where you will travel a distance of about 235km via the Mbarara – Masaka road. You may have a stop at the equator en route for photos and proceed to Kampala. On arrival, you will check in at the lodge for dinner and sleep over

DAY 13- Departure
Today is the last day of your safari. You will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala just in time to be transferred to the air port for your flight.
